Yoke VentPurpose : to maintain atmospheric pressure in the soil, waste and vent stacks.
Definition: "Yoke vent means a vent pipe that is connected at its lower end to a soil or waste stack and its upper end to a vent stack or a branch vent that is connected to a vent stack."
Location: Yoke vent is required in buildings 12 storeys and higher. Buildings can be of any type: office, institutional, hospitals, apartments.
Installation:
Connection : 7.5.3.3.(2) "Yoke vent shall be connected to the soil or waste stack by means of a drainage fitting at or immediately below the lowest soil or waste pipe from the lowest storey of the section described in Sentence (1)".
7.5.3.3.(3) Termination: The upper end of a yoke vent must connect to a vent stack at least 1000 mm above the lowest or fifth floor of the section.
7.4.2.1.(f) Fixtures may be connected to the yoke vent vertical section:

7.5.3.3.(4) Yoke vent is not required "to be installed where the soil or waste or waste stack is interconnected to the vent stack at each storey by means of a fixture or a group of vented fixtures installed in accordance with Subsection 7.5.2."
Yoke vent should not be connected on the floor with no plumbing installed on it - no visible indicators of a blockage. |
