Plastic Pipe

Plastics are divided into two categories: thermosetting and thermoplastic.

Thermosetting is the type of plastic which hardens with heat and a chemical reaction into a permanent shape. They will not change shape with the re-addition of heat (PEX piping).

Thermoplastic is the type of plastic which softens with heat and can change its shape (PVC, ABS and CPVC). Approximately 95% of plastic piping used is the thermoplastic type.
